The Light at the End of the Funnel

Abstract
Funnels provide a great model for optimizing your product. They're also limiting, simplistic, and shallow. You can still apply funnels to make your products better, but if you stop there you'll be led into mistakes and miss valuable opportunities. In this talk, step by step, you'll gain a deeper understanding of the value of the funnel. You'll learn some of the limitations and drawbacks and the absurd waste at the heart of most funnel optimization strategies. You'll discover how to build on the funnel to more sophisticated models that better match real products in the real world. In the end, you'll emerge from the funnel with a light to illuminate your path to a better product.

Ketan Gangatirkar is the Vice President of Engineering for Job Seeker products at Indeed. For the last 10 years, he's been helping millions of people get jobs. Along the way, he's made some good product decisions and some terrible ones. He used to think he had great ideas, but being wrong all the time cured him of that.
